What does no sitting fees mean when going to a portrait studio?

Generally a good photographer (like one you get for a wedding, etc.) charges a sitting fee – they charge for taking the pictures – then they have packages that you can get the pictures in – like 2 – 8X10, 3 – 5×7 for $50 or whatever. If you go to Sears (I hated the job they did on us) or some kind of studio like that they do not charge a sitting fee – for taking the pictures, they charge by the photo – they usually have some kind of packages too. The difference is that the professional photographer is going to get really good pictures of youy – he knows how to tell you to turn, how to tell you to sit, how to get the best angles and light… They also have lots of backdrops and props – like benches, etc. You pay a little more but it’s worth it. In the studios you are dealing with someone who is paid by the hour and has gone to some sort of 2 hour training on what to do. They may get one or two ok pictures, but it really doesn’t seem worth the time and effort for me.
