What does New Moon Mean?
The new moon is one of the four main phases of the Moon. The phases of the Moon describe the position of the Moon in its orbit around the Earth. The new Moon occurs when the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun. It is when nights are the darkest as the Moon cannot be seen for most of the night since it is obscured by the Earth. The opposite of the new Moon is the full Moon which occurs when the Earth is between the Moon and the Sun. The moon is its brightest when it’s full and it shines all night.
