What does “NearSighted” mean?
If you don’t have trouble seeing things up close, but squint when focusing on distant objects, it is possible you may just be nearsighted. Nearsightedness is a common term for the visual condition called Myopia. Myopia is a condition that occurs within the eye—the eyeball is too long or the cornea (lens) is too steep, causing images to fall in front of the retina, the area that “processes” visual images. People who are nearsighted can see objects “near” to them clearly, while objects further away appear less clear or blurry. Nearsightedness is a common vision problem, one that can become more prevalent with age. It is generally pretty easy to treat myopia with corrective lenses or contact lenses.
