What does “NC-17” stand for as it relates to movies?
NC-17 rating means that "no one 17 and under is admitted". An NC-17 rated film is judged by the MPAA to be too adult for children 17 and under. NC-17 does not mean “obscene” or “pornographic” in the common or legal meaning of those words; it’s not supposed to be a negative judgment in any sense. The rating means that the content is appropriate only for an adult audiences.
