What does Moravian do to help new students learn their way around campus?
Informally, new students get a lot of support from those who are already here – from upperclassmen, from professors and from administrators. This is a very warm and friendly place, very personal. There is a tremendous willingness here to help other people and a sincere interest in seeing other people do well. New students find people all around them who are willing to answer questions, make suggestions, encourage them, and help them feel at home. During freshman orientation, we formally focus on topics such as using academic resources, living with another person, alcohol awareness and campus safety. During these three days, students spend time with their faculty advisor and with their student advisor (who is an upperclassman trained to be of assistance to a small group of freshman). The objective is to give them the tools from the beginning that will help them do well here.
