First off congrats on the new baby! Now, tricare prime covers everything that has to do with your pregnancy to include delivery and hospital stay for you and the baby. As for the ultrasounds, by the 20th week the doctor has to perform an ultra sound to make sure that baby’s head and organ’s are performing correctly. This is around the same time that you find out the sex of the baby. Now, they make you wait for your first appt to take place around 8 or 9 wks, because by that time if you were to lose the baby it would’ve already happened. Sad but true. Also, if you don’t like the ob provider chosen for you notify tricare asap and get a new referral to another doc. The best thing you can do is ask a currently pregnant woman or new mom whose the best ob to go and make sure they’re on the tricare network.
