What does menace and malevolent motivation mean?

0

The menace is created by the music and the shark being invisible underwater is inherently menacing. There is very little action in Jaws. There is a slow build up of tension, with people ignore all the danger sign until the next disaster. There are some false alarms such a some kids playing with a sharks fin, which add to the tension. Malevolent motivation, is an odd expression. It suggests sadism. I’m not convinced the director’s intention was to imply malevolence on the part of the shark. It was simply a dangerous eating machine. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/m… The devil, evil spirts and vampyres are malevoloent. They are intent on destroying happiness. The shark has no feeling towards it’s prey, so whilst being frightening I cannot accept that it had malicious intent. Was the director motivated by malevolence. Well being a horror movie, I think that is self evident.
