What does member-owned and member-governed really mean?
It means that any user can become a member, and that all members have an equal stake in the governing of The River. It means that the Board of Directors is directly accountable to the membership. It also means that system staff and management attempt to give a high level of customer service and responsiveness, and members are highly motivated to volunteer time and talent to whatever needs to be done.
