What does Mbps or megabits per second mean?
A bit is the smalled measurement of a piece of information on a computer. 8 bits make up a byte, 1,024 bytes is a kibibyte (KiB), 1,024 KiB add up to a mebibyte (MiB) and 1,024 MiB is a gibibyte (GiB). The speed of information which can pass through your internet connection is measured in megabits per second (a million bits per second) or Mbps. 1 Mbps is about 0.1192 MiB/s (mebibyte per second).
