What does matte foundation mean?
Matte foundation is foundation that does not have any shine to it. You might have heard of matte lipsticks – the ones that aren’t shiny or glossy. Matte foundations are especially made for people with oily skin. This is because people with that skin type already have a lot of shine to their skin because of their overproduction of facial oils. Matte foundations often absorb the oil on their faces to reduce shine and make the skin look dryer. Matte foundations are often, but not always, powder foundations. People with normal or dry skin should not use matte foundations because it will give them the appearance of caked on, heavy makeup and dry skin, as well as causing premature aging over time. Instead, they should use a non-matte liquid foundation which will give the face a dewy, moisturized appearance.
