What does Martin Scorsese have to do with Keb Mo?
The first thing to know about this CD is that it’s part of a series of compact discs that were inspired by a project by noted filmmaker, Martin Scorsese. Back in 2003, Scorsese was the executive producer of The Blues, a seven part television series that aired on PBS. The Blues aired in September of that year and featured “personal and impressionistic films” by seven world acclaimed movie directors who were passionate about music. Scorsese was one of the directors who contributed to the series, but he also led the efforts of the other directors, which included Charles Burnett, Clint Eastwood, Mike Figgis, Marc Levin, Richard Pearce, and Wim Wenders. The Blues PBS special spawned a five CD box set, a single CD compilation that provided a 21 song overview to the series, individual soundtrack albums for each of the Blues films, and 12 individual artist collections. Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: Keb’ Mo’ is one of the 12 individual artist collections. What’s on the CD? Martin Scorsese
