What does light role infantry exactly mean in the british army?
Let’s keep it simple. Light role infantry are not in armoured vehicles. Infantry who are in armoured vehicles are called “Armoured Infantry”. Light role infantry can be deployed by air (Airmobile), in soft skin vehicles, or on foot. Anyone can join light role infantry. Sometimes the roling changes if the government decides to put someone who’s in the light role into armour and sometimes armoured units deploy in the light role anyway if the campaign isn’t suitable for armoured infantry vehicles. It’s as simple as that.
