What does Language Immersion Involve?
Since the program is called “Instant Immersion”, I decided that rather than reading directions, I would truly stick to an immersion type experience and jump right into the program. After quickly installing everything, I began to play. Generally, I found that interacting with the program was quite easy. The program is interesting in that you jump right into transcribing and listening to people saying the Spanish words. There is no vocabulary list, so in some ways, it really does mimic being immersed in a place where only the second language is spoken. I actually really liked the idea that you had to learn the words by connecting the orthographic form of the word with both what you hear and the picture that you see next to the written word. With this method, I could connect the sound/written word with the image rather than translating the word into an English word in my head.
