DTC: Jewelry is a means of self expression for women everywhere but particularly in the Middle East where a piece of diamond jewelry is sometimes the only means of individuality an Arab woman has available to her. Diamonds are also seen as the ultimate symbol of love so, in a country where a new bride and groom may not yet be able to express the new love they are experiencing, diamonds are a beautiful means of expression for their feelings. Finally, diamonds are a symbol of status for the wearer and for her husband. Large diamond jewels say to the world, Look what I have achieved. DM: How do jewelry purchasing trends differ from country to country within the Middle East? DTC: In general, the trends are similar in all Middle Eastern countries. DM: How does the nature of selling jewelry or diamonds in the Middle East differ from how it would in the U.S. for example? DTC: One good example is diamond jewelry sets.
