What does it take to strip a father of his rights?
You need to get a lawyer to pursue this on your behalf. The lawyer will petition the court to terminate the father’s rights based on the arguments you present at court (no contact with the child, etc.). HOWEVER, the court will decide whether your arguments are good enough. And they WILL contact the father for his testimony and ask him what he wants. If he wants to maintain his rights, you will have to present a pretty tough argument to the contrary to make the court see things your way. And know that doing something of this sort may also bring the father back into the picture — he may decide that he now wants to see the child and have a say in his life, even if it’s just for spite.
