What does it mean when a Tufts Health Plan member’s benefit is “carved out”?
It means the member’s employer has chosen to have mental health benefits for their employees managed and administered by a mental health management company. When this is the case, the telephone number of the carve out company is listed on the member’s Tufts Health Plan ID card, and available when you call the IVR system or access member information on our Web site.
