What does it mean when a lawyer wants to foreclose on your s.s disability?
OK, ‘foreclosure‘ is generally a term applied to a homeowner who can no longer make payments on the property. Ownership of such a house/property would revert back to the lending or mortgaging bank.
I have never heard of a lawyer wanting to ‘foreclose’ on someone’s SS Disability payments. That wouldn’t be a ‘foreclosure’ – it would be a garnishment. I doubt if even your lawyer could do that. Those SSDI benefits are YOURS, and are meant for YOUR use. I feel that your lawyer is somehow trying to threaten you. He/she must not feel that your case has a very good chance of succeeding and just wants to get paid now – exactly the type of lawyer one wishes to avoid.
