What does it mean to maintain full-time status? What if I have a good reason for not enrolling full-time?
To maintain F-1 or J-1 student status, international students must be enrolled in a full course of study each fall and spring semester (summer enrollment is optional). Minimums: Undergraduates = 12 hours Graduate students = 9 hours (if no assistantship) Graduate students w/assistantships = 6 hours There are valid academic and medical reasons for enrolling less than full-time. For any semester you are enrolled less than full-time, please complete the Exemption from Full-time Enrollment Form and have your academic advisor sign the bottom section. This will clarify any questions regarding you enrollment status. This form is due on or before the last day of drop/add period for the semester.
