The Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) is the accrediting body linked with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT). AAMFT is the leading organization in North America promoting and supporting the development of professional standards for the practice of marriage and family therapy. AAMFT has a Canadian Division, which founded the Canadian Registry to support formal recognition of the profession in Canada. Ontario and many other provinces have regional organizations within the Canadian Division.
