What does it mean to be poor in spirit as Jesus says will inherit the kingdom of heaven?
the heart of a man who has seen God is poor in Spirit because he has come to see his own wretchedness, the rest of the beatitudes show a progression to mourning, that is repentance process, in psalms burnt offerings God did not desire but a broken and contrite heart He will not despise. After repenting meekness as you have been humbled and seen God and then you get a taste for Him and hunger and thirst after righteousness…this is a man who loves and seek God with is whole heart…God doesnt hide or make us slay dragons or perform any other function than to devote yourself to him and rivers of living water wil come from his heart…go and reread the passage and think about this progression..this is a basic attitude that we should not stray from , wehn i am humbled God is exaulted…
