What does it mean to be on-call “after hours”?
The Summer Guest Services Office at Mount Vernon will be staffed from 8:00am-8:00pm daily and the Foggy Bottom Office will be staffed from 6:00am-Midnight daily. When these offices are closed, a Summer Assistant from Foggy Bottom will be required to be on-call from Midnight-6:00am. Each Foggy Bottom SA will be responsible for working up to 5 separate nights throughout the Summer. During these “after hours” shifts, the SA is required to remain in their room and respond to calls that come University offices or Summer guests (the office phone line will be forwarded to their room). While many “after hour” likely calls can be handled over the telephone, on occasion the SA may need to physically go to the Summer Guest Services Office to address the situation. Mount Vernon SAs will have the option to make themselves available for “after hours” response. In the event that they need to respond in person, the Mount Vernon SA will be compensated for a minimum of one hour.
