Title I teachers hired new to a school district after the beginning of school year 2002–03 must meet the highly qualified requirement upon date of hire. All other teachers teaching in core academic subjects have until the end of school year 2005–06 to meet the highly qualified requirement. • This requirement applies to teachers of core academic subjects.
