What does it mean to be “Black in America”?
It means: -Being defined as “ethnic” -Being followed around in stores -Being accused of being a “criminal” -Having to prove yourself constantly to others -Having to hear stereotype after stereotype after stereotype -Having people assume that you like hip hop -Having people treat you differently than they would if you were the same color as them -Having the world tell you that you’re not beautiful because you don’t look European -Having other black people accuse you of being “white” -Wondering why the color “nude” (for bras and such) doesn’t match your nude flesh -Having to search forever to find someone who can do your hair correctly -Living a life of duality Just a preview…
