What does it mean, that Jesus is the only way to eternal life in heaven?
People say: Isn’t it true that because God loves us, and forgives us, we’ll all go to heaven? A loving God would never send people to hell, would he? After all, I haven’t been such a bad person–I’ve never killed anyone. This is what many American’s believe. They base their eternal salvation on their own ability to be good. But the Bible tells us this doesn’t work–because it is impossible to do. The truth is that we can NEVER be good enough, because we all have sinned and we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Have you ever told a lie? Stolen something? Looked at a women or man (who was not your spouse) with lust in your heart? Yes, we all have. That means we ALL have disobeyed God and have sinned. Just as there is a penalty when you break a civil law, there is a penalty to be paid for breaking God’s law. What is that penalty? “The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23) That’s right.
