Independent Investment Advisor means no one tells Tim Guthrie, CFP what investments his clients can or cannot own. Many brokerage firms have a focus list, or approved list of products that the advisor must use. These product lists limit choice and flexibility and often list products that have paid a fee to be on the list, or provided other financial support to the brokerage firm. This is a poor way to select investments. There are no compensation arrangements paid to me for featuring a particular product or group of products. No one stops Tim from offering you what he believes to be the best investments for you. When you call you reach his office, not a call center.
