What does incorporation have to do with commercial fishing dockage?
A- Incorporation can ensure that our fishermen will always have dockage for their boats. Incorporated municipalities are able to apply for and receive grants and other funding for the purchase and maintenance of shoreline properties, if being used for certain purposes, such as dockage for commercial fishing vessels. As individuals, the people of Sneads Ferry are not eligible for these types of funds. The interim council is very aware that, once incorporated, they will need to act quickly in order to make such a purchase a reality.
