Companies are urged to maintain the highest standards of safety and health, in conformity with national requirements.5 A key element is promoting a culture of prevention within the enterprise where the right to a safe and healthy working environment is respected and where employers and workers actively participate in securing a safe and healthy working environment.6 Policies should seek foremost to prevent accidents and injury to health by minimizing, to the extent reasonably practicable, the causes of hazards inherent in the working environment.7 Chemical, physical and biological substances and agents under the control of the company should not pose a risk to the health of workers when the appropriate measures of protection are taken.
