What does Illini Bio-Energy plan to do with the remaining acres of the 213 acre parcel?
In order to secure the acres needed for the ethanol plant, Illini Bio-Energy had to sign an option for the total acres in the parcel. Illini Bio-Energy will use approximately 40 acres for the layout of the plant and the office building. Due to undermining in some areas of the property, significant acres of the parcel are unsuitable for the plant itself. They would however be suitable for internal roadways, a rail system, and an office building. Illini Bio-Energy will use some of the property to construct internal roads and a truck waiting area. Illini Bio-Energy will use a portion of the property to develop a rail loading system to accommodate the transportation of its ethanol and DDGS by rail to markets in the east and southeast. This rail system will minimize outgoing truck volume in the area. Illini Bio-Energy has no immediate plans for the balance of the acres.
