What does IFSAC Accreditation mean?

IFSAC is the acronym for International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. This is an organization that was designed to ensure all firefighters were trained to the same level to meet the requirements in various countries. In Nova Scotia the Accreditation is monitored and operated by the Nova Scotia Professional Qualifications Board which operates from the Office of the Fire Marshal and is represented by a number of organizations in the Province. They are the Office of the Fire Marshal, Nova Scotia Firefighters School, Cape Breton Regional Fire Service, Halifax Regional Fire Service, and Fire Officers of Nova Scotia. To apply for accreditation one must make application to the Pro Board through the office of the Fire Marshal.
