What does “hybrid” disk mean?
The word hybrid has several different meanings . The main category of hybrid uses two separate file systems: ISO 9660 and Macintosh HFS. This type of disk can run on either IBM-type PC or an Apple Macintosh. Another category of hybrid is designed to interact with the Internet. In this publishing model part of the information resides on CD and part resides on the Internet. Another version of hybrid which is defined in the Orange Book is for a disk that contains some pre-recorded information but also allows the user to record additional data.
