What does HVAC stand for and what does 14 SEER mean?
HVAC is an acronym for Heating / Ventilation / and Air Conditioning. An HVAC system includes the furnace, air-conditioner, and all the duct work that provides air-flow throughout the house. In the past few years, there have been many advances in HVAC technology. There are now new filter systems that are placed alongside the actual furnace and A/C units rather than in air returns throughout the house. These new systems need to be replaced every two years instead of every four-six months as recommended for the old-style filters. Another new innovation for HVAC systems is a “Thermidistat” – a monitoring device that monitors the humidity level in the home in addition to the temperature. Used in conjunction with a variable speed air-conditioner, the thermidistat turns on the A/C unit at low speed to draw out moisture as the humidity level rises. Then, it kicks it up to regular speed to cool the air. The result is that cooling dry air is both more comfortable, and more energy efficient. Sinc
