Sizing the hardware by way of processor power, main memory size, disk space requirements, disk speeds, high-availability measures for processor, memory, disk and network bandwidth planning constitute the hardware sizing for ERP. This is a very specialized task. To help in this task ERP vendors and hardware manufacturers have set up specialized labs and designed special performance measures like SAP’s for SAP, BRU’s for BaaN etc. that indicate a processor load. These measures in turn can be used to size hardware.
