What does “hang on sloopy” mean in the Ohio state buckeyes song?
The song gained an association with Ohio State University after its marching band began playing it at football games in the 60’s when the song was popular. A band member begged the director to try playing it and, after finally convincing the director the song was arranged for the band to play. The crowd loved it and, it is a Saturday tradition to play the song before the start of the fourth quarter of every Buckeye game. It’s the unofficial spirit song! Go Buckeyes!
