What Does God Say about Forgiving Others?
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 Forgiveness means letting go of my anger and desire to get even with someone who has hurt me. True forgiveness comes from God. Ever since sin entered the world through the first people, Adam and Eve, individuals have needed God’s forgiveness. Jesus Christ, God the Son, died on the cross to make the way for us to be forgiven for our sins. Those who trust in Jesus as their Savior are forgiven–made clean from their sins. If you have trusted the Lord Jesus as your Savior, you can thank Him that He has forgiven you. Once you have received God’s forgiveness, He wants you to forgive others who hurt you. Our verse says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32). You need to forgive others because God has forgiven you.
