What does Focus on the Family think about interracial dating and marriage?

Answer We know of no biblical or moral considerations that would prohibit interracial marriages, and we disagree with those who attempt to use the Bible to condemn it. Every person, regardless of race and culture, is of equal worth in God’s eyes. When a man and a woman pledge themselves to one another for life and do so with the intent to honor God in their marriage, it should be a cause for celebration, period. That’s not to say that interracial marriage might not pose some unique challenges to a couple. They may endure rejection from some family members, and the strains of cultural differences might be difficult. These are certainly items worthy of discussion in a premarital counseling setting. Ultimately, though, the overriding consideration for such individuals, as with anyone considering marriage, is to seek God’s direction and then follow His leading.
