What does fixed pitch vs. proportional font mean?
Fixed pitch fonts are fonts that use a fixed width for each character. For example, a letter “W” uses the same horizontal and vertical spacing as a letter “I.” Fixed pitch fonts are also sometimes referred to as “mono-spaced fonts.” Proportional fonts are fonts whose character widths vary proportionate to the width of the character.
