What does Fair Trade mean for developing countries?

I would hazard a guess that it doesn’t mean as much to the countries as it does to the marketing people in the companies using the Fairtrade logo to prod our conscience!

fairtrade is a joke. All it does is prove that suppliers have previously not been fair – what an admission that is !! Its supposed to provide a community contribution to help improve infrastructure and training. Excuse me for appearing stupid, but isn’t that want a buyer should be doing anyway – providing a fair price so the community can grow in a sustained manner rather than screw the price through the floor. Fairtrade companies now want a pat on the back for doing what thy should have been doing for 50 years. At least its improved the price to the supplier, but i object to all this “isn’t fairtrade great” stuff.
