I cried today when I wasn’t brave enough to call and apply for a first grade position. I teach sixth grade, and I don’t like it.It’s not where I belong.My kids are hateful and they don’t like to do ANYTHING AT ALL…they hate writing, reading, math, math games, math activities…anything but movies.I student taught in first and LOVED it so much!I permanently subbed in first my semester after student teaching, and I loved that too…the kids do throw tempers, squeak and cry if I will recall, but I’m more suited to patience in that area than I am with the”I hate you because you represent “the man” mentality.I just couldn’t aboandon this years kids mid year.First grade takes more physical demand and more prep time, if I recall, with fewer breaks, but I am destined to teach it!So, what do I need to hord, stock pile, make or save…because next year I am going to first come hell or high water!I’m jumping on the first opening after the “big test.
