What Does Demarcation Mean?
Marking of boundaries or a dividing line between two regions is known as demarcation. A boundary or border of a particular area is called demarcation. The Line of Demarcation was an imaginary longitude drawn by Pope Alexander VI to demarcate between Portugal and Spain. The line was drawn in 1493, after the discoverer of America Christopher returned from his expedition. Demarcation is drawn with the intention of creating a partition so that the natives or inhabitants of a particular region know the boundary of their country. Demarcation in the language of trade unions, referring to a demarcation dispute which come to the fore when two trade unions assert their right to a particular class of workers.
