What does D Day stand for from World War 2?

0

There were many D days and H hours during WWII. Every invasion had a D day, the day of the invasion, and an H hour, the time of the invasion. there was a D day for the invasion of Guadalcanal, Sicily, Anzio, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The one we remember as D day was the invasion of Normandy, 6 June 1944.

D Day, in any military operation, is the date the operation will take place. Rather than give an actual date ahead of time, it is set for D-Day (the D stands for Day–weird, I know) for secrecy purposes.
