What Does Coppice Mean?
Coppice is normally referred to an area which is densely populated by growing small trees. These coppice trees are normally cut regularly to encourage their growth. A coppice is a bulky orchard of small trees or shrubs. These coppice need to be maintained. They require a periodic cutting or trimming to encourage their growth and suckering. Coppice is found in the case of cinnamon trees for their bark or skin. Coppice is an area of forest or woods and the trees grown are normally small trees or the shrubs. These trees are usually cut down to ground level to encourage / promote the growth of side shoots. These shots are periodically cropped for fire wood. The process of cutting down coppice is known as coppicing. Typically this process of coppicing is done in rotation.
