What does ‘confirm the aircraft counts’ or ‘confirmed counts’ mean?
BasedAircraft.com has a button on the airport detail page, ‘Confirm aircraft data’. After the aircraft list has been reviewed and updated as needed the confirm button should be clicked, which opens an explanation page that contains a ‘Save’ button which will store the username and date and show them on the website, as shown below. The process of confirming the counts has two intended purposes: 1) it indicates how recently the airport has reviewed their list and has deemed it to be accurate and current and 2) it allows the airport to submit corrected based aircraft counts to the Airport Safety Data Program at any time. ‘Confirmed’, ‘Confirmed Counts’, and ‘Confirm aircraft data’ are all interchangeable terms. For example, saying that ‘airports should have confirmed their counts since 7/1/2010’ simply means that the date shown on the BasedAircraft.com website in the area shown below should have a date on or after 7/1/2010.
