What does computer forensics mean?
Computer Forensics is the science of examining electronically stored data for the purpose of understanding the data, how it got there, and what it means. One key aspect of the science is that we strive to never alter the original media the electronic data is stored on. This is usually accomplished by using “write blockers”. Write blockers can be hardware or software based. They keep the original media from being written to by what ever electronic means is being used to read the data stored on it. This ensures that subsequent follow up examinations will yield the same results.
