What does collaboration with the US Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) entail?
The USAISR is the DoD’s premier combat casualty care research facility. The USAISR understands the clinical challenges and performs research with appropriate animal models or clinical populations to improve clinical care of battlefield casualties. Collaboration with USAISR is required to leverage this expertise in an effort to ensure that clinical solutions will come from the AFIRM program. To collaborate with USAISR in their applied research programs (skin, muscle and bone) or clinical trials, please e-mail joseph.wenke@us.army.mil by September 19, 2007 and provide a detailed description of your plan to address the clinical challenges described in the AFRIM announcement. After this, USAISR will initiate a conference call and subsequently submit a description of their effort in the project, a statement of work, and a budget for inclusion in your proposal.
