What does “certification” mean?
In the Concord Tae Kwon Do system, colored belt and Black Belt ranks are certified, or officially recognized, through the national martial arts organizations to which we belong such as the Amateur Athletic Union’s (AAU) National Tae Kwon Do Program, The National Korean Martial Arts Association, The United States Korean Martial Arts Federation, The United States Taekwondo Won and the United Martial Arts Society.
If you have ever talked to a diver, you probably have heard the word “certification” come up. Or perhaps you’ve asked about going out on a dive at a resort or dive center but were told you needed to be “certified” before you could go. Certification simply means that you have been properly trained in the use of scuba equipment and the techniques of safe scuba diving. There are many different kinds of scuba certifications, but the certification most divers start with is the PADI Open Water Diver rating. This rating allows you to rent and buy scuba equipment, get air fills from dive centers, participate in professionally led dives, and dive in conditions that are similar to or better than the conditions you are trained in.
In North Austin Tae Kwon Do system, colored belt and Black Belt ranks are certified, or officially recognized, through the North Austin Tae Kwon Do Club and the national martial arts organizations to which we belong such as the Amateur Athletic Union’s (AAU) National Tae Kwon Do Program, The National Korean Martial Arts Association, The United States Korean Martial Arts Federation, The United States Taekwondo Won and the United Martial Arts Society.

Because Grand Master Spencer and Master Cindy are certified Examiners for the Kukkiwon, all the colored belt rankings certified are officially recognized worldwide as official rank, within WTF schools, whether it is a white belt or black belt. Upon the recommendation of Grand Master Spencer and/or Master Cindy, black belts are certified and registered with the Kukkiwon in Seoul, South Korea, the headquarters for the World Tae Kwon Do Federation.
