What does being “on-call” mean?

An on-call is when an RA is expected to remain at all times in the building, ready to respond to any problems or emergencies that may arise. On-calls begin at 5pm on weekdays and go until 8am the next day. On-calls for weekends begin at 5pm and go until 5pm the following afternoon.
