What does beginning Lavender Flower look like?
Lavender flowers, when they appear on the plant go through different development stages. When the first tiny flower buds appear they really do not look that impressive. The plant begins flowering by sending up long spikes with tiny green buds. In a matter of days the first signs of some color start to show. Given time the flower heads lengthen and buds begin swelling. Colors become more apparent and more intense as the days go by. When the Lavender buds are swollen and fat and about to burst open in flower this is the time to harvest for crafts and to dry buds for culinary use.
