What Does Apparent Magnitude?
The brightness of a star is expressed as a magnitude. This can be either apparent or blatant magnitude. APPARENT magnitude is the brightness of the star as observed from Earth and takes no narrative of it’s distance from the Earth. As a way of ‘levelling the playing field’ and enable like-for-like comparisons between stars, the ABSOLUTE magnitude is used to express how bright every star would be if they be at a standard distance of 10 Parsecs which is approximately 32.6 Light Years.
