An online typing test usually involves copying out a sample of text into a box within a given time limit. People who take the test are tested on how many words they can type per minute. When a test has been completed, users can practice more if they wish, as some websites have lots of different tests to choose from. Some websites offer official certificates which users can achieve by taking full typing tests, or by taking a certain amount of tests. Users may need to pay to take full typing tests for the certificate, but there are some websites which offer certificates for free. Some websites require user registration, but this is usually free and as soon as users have registered with the site they can take a typing test to check their typing speed.
