What does an epidemiologist study?
An epidemiologist studies sicknesses across populations, which means it is more on a global level for example a state, a region or a nation. In the event of an outbreak of a disease or an epidemic, the epidemiologists will gather data from surveys so that an appropriate and effective treatment plan can be implemented. They will look at data sources such as laboratory reports, birth and death certificates, census data as well as registration and discharge information from hospitals. They examine patterns in sickness and health and are able to identity where resources are needed to deal with these problems.
